Busy, busy, busy !

Alot of music playing and writing in my world.
Just played for my friends 50 th birthday in Cumberland last week( Happy birthday Lori !) and was up too late around the proverbial campfire. That same night I played the Island Songwritinf contest featuring my song Rocky Shores. While I did not make it to the finals, I think I have a great song and will be including it in my solo set list!
Every third thurs we have an open stage gere on Denman island and last night was no exception for alot of wonderful talent.  I am also playing this Sat 19, as part of a double bill in the Font Hall on Denma island with my dance band HipBone. We are having so much fun as we slowly tighten and expand our set. Looking forward to it. To-day I am playing solo for a special needs class in Courtenay which is always alot of fun, the kids get right into it and dance in the aisles( literally).
I hope to revamp the website soon as it is hopelaessly out of date, so bear with me folks! Lots of new pics, and a fresh look will be comming soon!
In the meantime hgere is my facebook page for odds and ends of info.
  drop me a line!

In other news, while I have you here, May has been a busy month for me musically, with many opportunities to perform, and new songs flowing again.
I feel blessed to live on a small island where nature allows me the peace of mind to focus on what is real.
Denman Island has an open stage the third thurs of every month, so if you are in the neighbourhood I suggest you drop in, you won't regret it!

Also, stay tuned for updates to my website. New Pictures are comming down the pipe as we speak, compliments of Mike, at

We'll see if we can make that happen in the next few weeks.

Kevin Mitchell Is BACK!

After  more than a year of allowing my website to languish, I have decided to 'get back in the Game~'. I have much music planned for 2010, and have been VERY busy writing songs and performing on Denman. I am now looking for gigs, and will do my best to get a new CD out this year. It will be acoustic, but NOT mellow( okay- one or two songs). I have the honour of playing Duncan Folk Fest this year, and that has done alot to motivate me to hone my performing skills. I feel blessed and lucky to have made it to my present level of what some may call talent.
My electric  Roots Dance Band is swinging into gear, with the addition of Mr Color- aka Randy Duncan. We are getting tight in a musical twisted kind of way.
I will be keeping you updated much more from here on in, and come back some time soon, cause changes to this website are afoot.
Yours, KTongue out

NEW UPDATES TO WEBSITE

This site features the Acoustic Roots music of Kevin Mitchell. Original Alt-Country Roots that is unique and different. " With a groove that gels with the very best roots rock .His music bears the influences of Bob Dylan, Leon Redbone, Waylon Jennings and other greats, yet is thoroughly original and masterfully played on guitar and mandolin."(crow&wolf music review)
Thanks for checking out my new site, now I'm hoping you can stick around long enough to sample a few tunes. I am in the process of posting some unreleased material, so stay tuned! I hope to soon feature a catalogue of unreleased material on this site, in efforts to garner interest from other recording artists and industry reps. My 2006 release, All The Way is now available from my music store. Please, sign up to my informal musical updates letter, which is posted every few months. As a bonus, a chance to win a free copy of my new CD comes with that subscription.
I have also recently joined the myspace fray and have found it to be a very useful tool to network with other musicians from around the globe. Each profile has a ´friends´ section and you simply click on their pic and their profile appears, (usually with a player with 4 of their songs.) A great way to discover new artists! My music is influenced by a wide variety of styles, ranging from folk and blues, to country/bluegrass and world beat resulting in acoustic roots with some edge. I am currently experimenting with a loop station and having a lot of fun in my solo shows. The loop station allows me to record rhythm tracks live, and layer added effects and leads, giving my solo show a rather full sound. I'm excited about recording some new(and old) material in 2007, so would love for you to come back from time to time to check it out. I am also in the process of having links to other local artists and inspiring websites. I hope these songs give you what they give me… "music speaks louder than words" km
Live music is better...
